Text Box: Spence Associates is based in London. Formed in 1998 its work has ranged from large master planning studies for both the London School of Economics and Thames Valley University to a series of small scale developments including the River Cafe restaurant in London.
In addition to Turner Contemporary it is currently involved with the design of a 180m span pedestrian bridge across the River Tees in Stockton and a private house in Surrey, all of which are scheduled to start construction in 2005.
Prior to forming Spence Associates, Stephen Spence spent 11 years with the Richard Rogers Partnership working on a series of award winning international buildings, master plans and competitions

Snøhetta AS is an internationally respected architectural practice based in Oslo in Norway.
Work on Turner Contemporary is its last in the United Kingdom before they move on to 'Ground Zero', the site of the World Trade Centre in New York, where it was awarded the contract to design parts of the cultural centre.
68 architectural firms submitted proposals for Ground Zero last August, and Snøhetta AS learned of its success in October 2004.
Previously Snøhetta AS's best-known buildings were the Library in Alexandria in Egypt, and the new Norwegian Opera House in Oslo
